Lauren Everett is a photographer, filmmaker, community activist, traveler and musician from Los Angeles. She has studied media arts at The Pratt Institute, photography at Los Angeles City College, and received her BS in film from The University of Texas at Austin. Her photography series have explored alternative religion in Los Angeles (Devotion), iconic Southern California racetracks (Horses), and the ineffable visual and spiritual qualities of her hometown (Rainbow Noir) and Old Days, a collection of black and white photographs documenting her teenage years in LA’s beach communities. Her photography book, People Like Us: The Cult of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, was released in late 2015 on Croatoan. Her inspirations include; twentieth century archetypes, ancient myths, modern rituals, The Zone, historical mysteries, local legends, classical Hollywood cinema, neon signs, and the color spectrum. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her black cat Rosalita. She is current studying for her Masters of Urban Studies at Portland State University.
