Lauren Everett is a photographer, filmmaker, community activist, and musician from Los Angeles, living in Portland. She received her Bachelors in Film from The University of Texas at Austin, and her Masters in Urban Studies from Portland State University. Her photography series have explored alternative religion in Los Angeles (Devotion), iconic Southern California racetracks (Horses), and the ineffable visual and spiritual qualities of her hometown (Rainbow Noir). Her photography book, People Like Us: The Cult of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, was released in late 2015 on Croatoan. Creative inspirations include: twentieth century archetypes, ancient myths, modern rituals, The Zone, sense of place, historical mysteries, local legends, classical Hollywood cinema, neon signs, and the color spectrum.
